Rest and Mental Health
As regular readers of my musings will know, I talk quite a lot about the importance of sleep when it comes to our mental health. Indeed, it could be one of the most important thing that is within our control to deal with when it comes to our mental health and well being.
However, one thing that can sometimes be overlooked is the importance of just resting as opposed to sleep. We are all very busy people and there never seems to enough hours in the day to do all we want. Because of this, we tend to not rest. Indeed for many people the weekend, which is meant to be our time of rest, is often one of the busiest times of the week.
It is not a luxury to take a break, to simply relax and take it easy. It is absolutely essential to your well being. Taking a break need not be for a long period of time. In fact, little and often can be just as useful as taking longer and fewer breaks. You can spend time with friends or spend time on your own. It really doesn’t matter so long as you make time for yourself and to look after yourself. After all, if you don’t who will?
