Why Consult Shaun Brookhouse?
With the bewildering choice of therapists available for you to consult, here are some reasons why you might want to consult me.
You want to be sure that the therapist you consult is experienced. I have been in continual practice since January 1989, making me one of the longest established and most experienced practitioners in Manchester and have been a trainer of hypnotherapists and hypno-psychotherapists since 1993.
You might wonder if therapy is for someone like you. I have helped clients from all walks of life to live better and healthier lives.
If you book a session, you will always see me, I do not use associates.
You want to make sure that your practitioner is qualified in the UK, though I have credentials from other countries, my primary credentials are from the UK and I am registered with UK based professional societies. I am on an Accredited Register as recognised by the Professional Standards Authority. Be wary of people who only have membership/accreditation from countries outside of the UK. If you need redress it is essential that you have a UK based organisation to go to.
Additionally, you want to ensure that the professional body your therapist is recognised by is “real” in that the body is able to adequately regulate the practitioners they claim to represent. The use of the words “National” or “International” can be misleading, please ensure that the organisation that your practitioner claims membership of will be able to ensure your safety as a client.
Also, be aware the more often than not, practitioners who claim that they have trained at a UK University in Hypnotherapy it simply means that the private school which trained them took rooms at places like UCL or King College London. My qualifications are indeed accredited and recognised by the Open University (Diploma in Hypno-Psychotherapy, National College) and Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma, NCFE) Bath Spa University (Advanced Diploma in Hypno-Psychotherapy, National College 90 Credits towards the MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice) and my MA from Liverpool John Moores University was awarded in part due to my dissertation on the dynamics of Hypnotherapy Training. Always ask any potential practitioner where their qualifications came from and what accreditation it has.
You are an individual so it is important that you have a therapist who tailors each and every session to what you need. I recognise that YOU are the expert on you, and so we will work together to find a permanent resolution in the shortest time required. Be wary of people who promise success in one or two sessions without actually talking to you. Human behaviour simply does not work in this simplistic way.
You want to be sure that your therapist is an expert in their field. I am involved with the profession as Principal of the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (one of the longest established schools of hypnotherapy/hypno-psychotherapy in the UK), current and past Chair of the Hypno-Psychotherapy Section of UKCP (College of Hypno-Psychotherapists), Chairman of the European Association for Hypno-Psychotherapy, Co-Founder and Past President of the National Society of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy and Mindfulness (now National Society for Talking Therapies) and Founding Chair of the UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations. I have received several awards and Fellowhips for my work as a clinician and educator in the hypnosis field.
You want to make sure that the qualifications your therapist has the appropriate training to help you with your situation. My professional and academic qualifications are among the highest in the field. To find out more about my credentials go to CV
In 2018, I was made an Honorary Fellow of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy
I am the author of 5 books on hypnotherapy ranging from ethical practice management to hypnotic coaching, to motivational hypnosis, to hypnotherapy training.
You want to be sure that the therapist you consult is trustworthy. I am clinical supervisor to a number of hypnotherapists and hypno-psychotherapists in Manchester and all over the UK who trust my knowledge and experience to enhance their clinical skills.
Additionally, I have acted as an expert witness in legal cases relating to hypnosis and/or hypnotherapy.
Finally, I am recognised by the European Association for Psychotherapy as an International Expert in Hypno-Psychotherapy, one of only 19 persons across Europe recognised as experts in their psychotherapeutic modality.

Needs, wants, desires and ambitions Therapists need to know what a client needs, wants, desires and has ambitions to achieve. So what are the differences
The Importance of Values in Therapy Values are often looked upon as being very complex. However, values can be best described as what is important to us.
