Millennials and Obesity

Cancer UK has recently published that Millennials, those born between the early 1980’s and mid 1990’s are on track to become the most overweight generation since records began. Indeed, they are approximating 70% of this generation will too fat by the time they reach middle age. There are many possible explanations for this, indeed the ease of getting food must be considered to be one such reason. Home delivery take away which is a convenience for some, becomes a lifestyle for others. Also, in the previous generations food was more in short supply, especially after the War, so attitudes were and are different to eating.

It would be far too simple to say that this is all down to a lack of discipline in the young. There are many people who use food as a form of self medication for emotional or psychological trauma. It is in these areas hypnotherapy can often assist. By understanding the psychological reason people over eat, these can be treated with hypnosis and psychotherapy to help the client to find more adaptive ways to work on their issue which will not cause them damage in the long run. Indeed, for many people food provides an almost anaesthetic result in dealing with issues and discomfort.

Should we be concerned, yes, should we believe that this situation cannot be changed certainly NOT.
