Metathesiophobia- Fear of changes

Metathesiophobia- Fear of changes

In life one of the only true inevitabilities is that nothing stays the same. Humanity is in a constant state of evolution and the things that we hold as facts now, may prove in a matter of time to be not so. Our relationships with each other also changes. Where when things begin we are often in a state of euphoria and love, as time goes on this can also change sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse, but change is likely to occur whether we like it or not.

If change is to be inevitable, then we can either chose to embrace change or choose to fear it. For the majority, change is looked upon as an opportunity and challenge. However, there are some people who have an intense and pathological fear of change. These people are said to be suffering from Metathesiophobia a fear of changes.

This anxiety can often be traced back to childhood, especially in childhoods where there was a constant change in the air. For example, a family that moved about quite a bit not allowing for the bonds of friendship to be formed because the child was not around long enough to develop it.

Obviously, therapy is about change, and using hypno-psychotherapy to help a person overcome the fear of change, it would be useful for the sufferer to be taught to be desensitized to change in order for the sufferer to be able to resolve that change is something that will happen in their life like it or not.
