A Master in 4 Days-With No Test
I had made myself a promise to use my blog as a positive voice before the New Year, however, I came across and advertisement recently which has caused my mood to drop somewhat. I have been involved with the training I’ve hyponotherapists and psychotherapists for more than two decades. My Masters Degree in Education is in the development of hypnosis training 1971-1998 (a little out of date, but the first university research into this subject). The training of ethical and effective therapists has been a passion of mine for a very long time indeed.
So enough of the infomercial, to the subject in hand. I saw an advertisement from a training organisation for people to become a Master Hypnotherapist in 4 days with no formal assessment. The only way for a trainer to estimate the level of knowledge a student has is with a formal system of assessment.
Also one must consider the title of Master, this is a title which has certain connotations, a Master is one who is an expert in their subject. I think this title should not even be used, as even for those of us with thousands of hours of training because there is always something new to learn. So if you are looking for a hypnotherapist, please be mindful that the title Master, may not mean what you think it does.
