If You Ask For Hypnotherapy Get Hypnotherapy
This might seem a strange title today, but it is something I have been meaning to write about for some time. I have seen many clients over the years and a story which has become more common as the years go by is that people have presented for hypnotherapy, but did not actually get hypnotherapy. The practitioner will also tell the client that they would be be better having Reiki or EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or a raft of other approaches which are simply not hypnotherapy.
Now, of course, the practitioner should have the expertise to determine whether hypnotherapy is the best approach for the client in question. However, they should not be offering other approaches simply because the practitioner prefers to use that over hypnotherapy. Obviously, most of us have a preferred way of working and that is perfectly reasonable. However, it is the client who is the centre of the session and therefore it is what he or she wants which counts (providing that there are no contraindications for hypnotherapy to be used). If you consult a hypnotherapist and he or she does not offer you hypnotherapy, I suggest that you get up and go, and find one who will. You do not have to undertake a treatment that you do not want to.
