Hypnotherapist Accreditation

Hypnotherapist Accreditation

Having been in the hypnotherapy profession since 1989, the matter of a practitioner’s accreditation has become far more relevant and important. Potential clients should be sure that the practitioner that he/she wants to consult is properly qualified. It is true that most hypnotherapy qualifications are issued through private training providers. However, this does not mean that there is not meaningful accreditation available to practitioners which are essential for the safe delivery of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy.

Organisations like the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy are accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy. The UKCP is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) The PSA is an organisation which regulates regulators, this simply means that it audits and ensures that the organisations they accredit meet the necessary standards of ethics and conduct in order to insure that the body can effectively regulate its members. Graduates of the National College are also eligible to register with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) which is also accredited by the PSA.

Before consulting a hypnotherapist or psychotherapist in Manchester or anywhere else in the UK, please ensure that your practitioner is regulated by either of these two bodies as a basic criteria.

There are some additional things to look for in your practitioner:

  • Experience
  • Educational Background
  • Personal Recommendation (wherever possible)
  • Specialist Training

These factors alone will not guarantee your success with therapy, but they are a very good starting point. What could be considered the most important factor of all is the therapeutic relationship you have with your clinician. I wish you well in your search for a skilled hypnotherapist or psychotherapist
