Ford Motors and Mental Health
As regular readers of my blog will know, I am very keen that mental health issues should be taken out of the shadows and discussed openly and freely in the light of day. Many celebrities have come out recently to discuss their challenges with mental health issues. Now, the other day, I saw an advert by the Ford Motor Company, with two lads in a transit van sharing a conversation with a giant elephant in the cab with them. When one was acting different to usual, they pulled over ant the other started taking to him and the elephant disappeared. The elephant, of course, was the issue that the other was going through, and with the discussion the issue was being dealt with.
I think this was an excellent representation as young men are the least likely to discuss their issues with anyone, most especially their friends and family. People need to be encouraged to talk and to know they will not be judged or ridiculed. We have to all remember to some extent or other we are all broken in some way. It is essential that we show the humanity needed to help those who need it most.
